- Regular cleaning. Use a soft cloth and mild soap to wipe down surfaces daily avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. Avoid acidic cleaners. Steer clear of lemon juice vinegar or any acidic cleaners that can etch stone surfaces.
- Seal the stone. Make sure to apply a proper sealant every 1-2 years. This protects against stains and excess moisture.
- Avoid heat damage. Always use trivets or hot pads under hot pots and pans to prevent thermal shock. Thermal shock occurs with rapid changes in temperature causing the stone to expand or contract. It can cause fissures which lead to visible cracks and structural damage.
